I’m Annie: a Visual Journey Between Anime and American Animation is a learning project that combines illustration, photography, video and animation which observes the mutual visual influences between anime to American animation through the eyes of Annie. Annie is a fictional character who moves from reality to the anime world.

Throughout her point of view, and with the help of creatures she meets, the viewers get a cultural and historical knowledge about the connection of the animations’ styles. The project also portrays anime as emotional space that functions as an escapist refuge from daily life.

The character Annie reperesnts me, the creator, then a visual communication student who loves anime, animation, history, knowledge and escapism that’s so much needed in our time.
