This project is an alternative animated teaser for the song “Gasoline” by the Italian band Måneskin, officially released in early 2023 as part of their album RUSH!. The song addresses support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia, while expressing protest and criticism of Vladimir Putin’s indifference to the suffering of the Ukrainian population. In my teaser, I aimed to highlight the song’s core themes, protest, fear, and revenge, without explicit references to weapons or blood, instead conveying a metaphorical sense of pursuit and tension.

Through the use of fast paced, raw, and gritty stop motion animation, accompanied by coarse textures and an intensifying rhythm in both the animation and sound editing, the teaser amplifies and reinforces the “hunter and prey” concept present in both the visuals and the original song. The metaphorical hooves chasing the prey, the rough visual language, the restrained color palette of black, white, and red, the rising sense of tension, and the impending revenge. All of them build toward the climax, the reveal of the song’s title and the central line of the chorus: “We’re gonna dance on gasoline.”
